Got Hydration???

Summer has begun and now coming to the middle of July will we finally get sunshine and heat? Most likely yes đŸ™‚ With the heat upon us, combined with the heated yoga & barre classes offered at Training Camp, how do we stay hydrated? I’m sure that “duh water” popped into your thoughts. Let’s call that a “no brainer”. Hydration should start before you exercise, no matter if you take hot yoga or hot barre, or whatever choice of workout you prefer. In conjunction with your workout is the idea to get a sweat on, and in that case we start to lose our own personal stores of water and electrolytes. In order to start the hydration process, incorporate these foods into your daily regime:

  • Celery
  • Berries
  • Cucumber
  • Bell peppers
  • Citrus fruit
  • Pineapple
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Radishes
  • Tomatoes
  • Cauliflower
  • Spinach
  • Watermelon

Now you have a leg up on the situation. There are a plethora of electrolyte supplements, we carry Superior hydration sticks, easy to pour into a bottle of water and drink before, during, and after workout. Simply adding celtic salt to your water, if you can handle the taste, will do the trick too!!!

I often hear people say “it’s the heat or I can’t take hot classes because I get headaches or feel drained”. While that could very well be the case for some, I will venture to say that the majority of us are poorly hydrated to begin with. It takes more than plain water to keep our bodies performing and feeling well while working out and especially those of us that prefer the hot classes. It’s not only about drinking water during exercise, what condition are you bringing your body to work out in? The goal is to start the hydration process before and not play catch up after.
